Zapier - Create a Traction Tools to-do when an email in Gmail is starred.


1. Sign in to your Zapier account.

2. Click the Make A Zap button at the top left of the screen and name it.

3. Trigger

  1. You’ll need to choose BOTH the application that you want to push information out of and the event. In this example, we will want to push information out of Gmail which is the application. Search and choose Gmail in the search box.
  2. Next, choose the Trigger Event. For this example, we chose New Starred Email.
  3. Click continue.
  4. Connect your Gmail account to Zapier, if you have not already done so. 
  5. Click Choose an account…
  6. Choose your account or Connect a new account.
  7. Click Continue.
  8. Test the trigger. At least one email will have to be starred already for the test and Zap to work correctly.
  9. Click Continue.

4. Action

  1. Choose An App. In this example, we want a to-do to be created when an email is starred. Search and choose Traction Tools.
  2. Choose an event. In this example, we want a personal to-do to be created. Click the Create a Personal To-Do option.
  3. Click Continue.
  4. Connect your Traction Tools account or add it if you have not already done so.
  5. Click Continue.
  6. Set up action. All fields are optional except for the To-do title.
  7. To-do Title (required) - Choose the options that best meet your needs. One example would be adding the email Subject.
  8. To-do Notes (optional) - Choose the options that best meet your needs. One example would be Body Plain.
  9. To-do Due Date (optional) - Choose the options that best meet your needs.
  10. Click Continue.
  11. Test & Review or Test & Continue.
  12. Turn on Zap.
